Impact: The project aimed to address economic, social, and environmental challenges related to fossil fuel-based electricity generation by exploring renewable alternatives, specifically gasification of agricultural and forest residues, primarily from sugarcane. The main objective was to design a financially viable process for generating electricity from sugarcane biomass. By extending the project's findings to the citrus sector, including biomass collection and pre-treatment centers, the citrus industry could achieve energy self-sufficiency and overcome natural gas-related energy supply issues.
