Pakistan (1976-1977)
Iqbal Akhund (Pakistan), a former U.N. Assistant Secretary-General (1979-1987) and head of the Centre Against Apartheid, was a career diplomat who served as ambassador to Egypt, Yugoslavia and France. He was also the Secretary-Generals Special Representative and Resident Coordinator in Lebanon and Chairman of the Security Council Committee on Sanctions against Rhodesia. He was Foreign Affairs Adviser to Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto (1988-1990).
