GROUP OF 77
GENEVA
CLOSING STATEMENT OF THE GROUP OF 77 AND CHINA AT THE 7TH SESSION OF INTERGOVERNMENTAL GROUP OF EXPERTS ON E-COMMERCE AND DIGITAL ECONOMY
(Geneva, 8 May 2024)
Thank you, H.E President.
- At this closing, I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to You, Mr. President, Vice-Chair-Cum-Rapporteur for the exceptional leadership and skillful facilitation of discussions throughout this session.
- Over the course of this 7th session, we have benefited greatly from the insightful contributions and experiences shared by speakers and divisions, particularly the contributions at the high-level panel sessions.
- I also extend my thanks and appreciation to the Members of G77 and China, especially my representatives (Sofia and the team) for their dedication and commitment while I was in another engagement during the session.
- Also, I would appreciate colleagues from other Groups, for their flexibility and constructive engagement, which have enriched our deliberations and led to the agreed conclusions of this session, despite the fact that we cannot get everything as put forward.
- Acknowledging that compromises are inherent in negotiations, consensus remains integral to UNCTAD's work. Hence, negotiations should be conducted in a rational, pragmatic, creative, good- faith, and realistic manner to achieve a win-win outcome.
- Finally, I would like to express my deep appreciation to our diligent Secretariat team and
interpreters for their invaluable support and dedicated efforts in ensuring the success of the meeting.
Thank you H.E. President.
